Following a rather exciting summer transfer window that saw a number of ambitious names come through the door, such as Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko, West Ham United fans would certainly love to see more join the team this year.
Things have definitely improved for the London Stadium outfit under Manuel Pellegrini – and with a man that boasts a managerial record of his at the helm, it should not be too difficult to see a number of high-profile names want to play for the Hammers in the future, which could include one of their former reported targets.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Tuttosport, AC Milan could be prepared to sanction the sale of Franck Kessie in order to fund their own move for Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa.
That news could be of significant interest to West Ham, as they were believed to have been keen on the Ivory Coast international back in January, per Tuttomercatoweb.
It was claimed that the Hammers had made an offer of around €35million (£30.2m) but that was later rejected by the Serie A outfit as it was deemed ‘too low’, with the latest report claiming he is valued at €40m (£34.6m).
However, the potential availability of Kessie could also reignite interest from Tottenham Hotspur as well, as they look to replace the likes of Mousa Dembele and possibly Victor Wanyama in the summer market, with Tuttomercatoweb claiming they were once keen on the Ivorian.
Whether Kessie is made available for a transfer or not remains to be seen but it is definitely something West Ham should keep tabs on over the next few months.
The 22-year-old has been largely impressive in his short career so far and has attracted plenty of interest from a number of Europe’s top clubs in the past with his performances, per GOAL.
And, it would be difficult to say that he would not immediately upgrade the midfield at the London Stadium outfit, as he has plenty of energy and technical ability to offer the Hammers and strengthen them in the middle of the park.
However, if the Irons were to add him, that could mean Mark Noble loses his place in Pellegrini’s side next season, despite playing a key role for the team this year.
It would be highly unlikely to see Declan Rice lose his place in the team following his exceptional season, although there would be an argument that an attacking element from the team could be lost if Kessie was placed next to him in the side.
West Ham could also find it difficult to land him if their Premier League rivals reignite their interest as well as Champions League football would be on the table and that is something that will likely appeal to the Ivorian.
West Ham fans, do you think the club should look to make a return for Kessie in the summer transfer window if AC Milan make him available? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts.
