The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern will not tolerate another poor season next year…
Though this season looked likely to be a landmark campaign for the Hammers, following their move to the London Stadium, in the end it was anything but. A very poor first half of the season saw the side battle relegation for a while, and whilst Slaven Bilic was able to steady the ship – the first campaign at their new ground has left a very sour taste in the mouths of the West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern.
This is clearly something that Slaven Bilic wants to avoid next season, and it seems as though the Hammers are plotting a few major changes to ensure that improvements are made ahead of next season. According to the Daily Star, the club are eying a few big names to reinvigorate the club – and a move for £50m-rated Everton midfielder Ross Barkley could be on the cards.
Though it is not made clear how likely a move actually is, it seems as though the Hammers are interested – and in truth, it is a deal that makes sense. Barkley has impressed for Everton in recent years, and with the Englishman still yet to sign a new deal, a transfer is looking increasingly likely this summer.
West Ham, for their part, have struggled offensively in recent months, and Barkley would certainly add some much-needed firepower. With offensive players like Gokhan Tore and Jonathan Calleri leaving the club this summer, reinforcements going forward are absolutely vital.
Our landlord thinks that whilst a move could be expensive, it could work out very well for the Hammers.
