Whilst a good result against Crystal Palace over the weekend certainly perked up the West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern, the Dimitri Payet-saga is still looming over their heads…
After news emerged before the game that the Frenchman wanted to leave the London Stadium, the Hammers’ clash against Crystal Palace quickly became far less significant – with many prioritising their focus upon what is going to happen next with Payet.
Slaven Bilic was quick to state that Payet would not be sold this month, which left many in the Tavern fearing that the Frenchman could disrupt proceedings at the London Stadium.
This is, seemingly, a concern that Bilic and the West Ham brass agree with – and so it would appear as though they are quickly changing their tune.
According to the Evening Standard, West Ham are quickly turning around to the idea of selling Dimitri Payet – with Marseille still keen on the talented midfielder.
It has been a quick turnaround for the Hammers, with our landlord suggesting that West Ham’s fine performance against Crystal Palace over the weekend might have proven to Slaven Bilic that Payet is not such an essential piece to the West Ham machine as he thought.
There is no doubting how much of a miss Payet will be at West Ham should he leave, though. Last season he was arguably the best player in the Premier League, with 9 goals and 12 assists proving vital as the Hammers shot up the Premier League.
The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t sure if he should be sold, but they want a quick resolution to this deal…
