West Ham supporters have been slightly downbeat in the Transfer Tavern in recent times after seeing their side concede a late leveller to end up drawing 3-3 with Bournemouth in a thrilling clash at the Vitality Stadium on Boxing Day.
David Moyes’ men led 3-2 going into the dying minutes on the South Coast on Tuesday thanks to a brace from Marko Arnautovic alongside James Collins’ opener, yet Callum Wilson controversially secured a point for Eddie Howe’s side in the third minute of injury time. As such, the Hammers remain a point and a place above the Cherries in the Premier League table, yet it was a result met with disappointment from several of our resident West Ham fans given their slender lead going into the final few minutes.
In the meantime though, there has been plenty for those Hammers supporters lining up at the bar to get their teeth into, not least an intriguing recent report from the BBC which suggests that youngster Reece Oxford is set to make a big money move to German side RB Leipzig in the January window.
The 19-year-old has spent the first half of the campaign at Bundesliga rivals Borussia Monchengladbach but has found first team opportunities hard to come by, with just four appearances to show for his loan spell there so far.
Yet it appears that his ill-fated time at the Stadion im Borussia-Park could be coming to an end next month as reports suggest that fellow German club Leipzig are closing in on a big money move for the versatile starlet, believed to rise to around €19 million.
And given his struggles for football in the Bundesliga this term, this is a seemingly imminent departure which has come as somewhat of a shock to our resident West Ham supporters.
Landlord’s verdict: Reece Oxford has been tipped for a big future in the game, but his recent struggles at Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach suggest that he still has a long way to go.
The West Ham youngster has managed just four appearances for the German side since joining on loan back in June, yet he looks set to secure a shock move to fellow Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig in the forthcoming January window.
And this news has generated amazement among our resident Hammers fans, but also an element of frustration given that it doesn’t look like Oxford will fulfil his potential at the London Stadium.
