The West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been panicking since seeing Manuel Lanzini limp off against Bournemouth yesterday. David Moyes has admitted he is worried about the creative Argentinian midfielder and the Hammers will struggle to replace him.
But Moyes is now in the market to bring in an attacking midfielder. According to The Daily Mail, West Ham want to bring Samir Nasri back to England. The former Arsenal and Manchester City star has only been at Turkish outfit Antalyaspor for half a season but he is set to leave the club now because he wants to play elsewhere.
The 30-year-old is now a target for West Ham, who are interested in his attacking qualities from midfield and his versatility. Nasri is able to play behind the striker on either wing.
Antalyaspor have offered the 41-cap former France international to the Hammers and this move could tempt Moyes. Nasri played in England from 2008 to 2017, making 215 appearances, scoring 36 goals and adding a further 38 assists during his spells with Arsenal and Manchester City. Nasri also has two Premier League winners’ medals under his belt.
Now West Ham could look to bring back the experienced midfielder for the rest of their campaign.
If the price is right, this move seems sensible for all parties. Nasri is unsettled in Turkey and Antalyaspor will be better off using his wages elsewhere. And West Ham could use a creative spark in midfield with Michail Antonio and now possibly Lanzini out injured.
