Few players at West Ham were as controversial as Dimitri Payet. The Frenchman came to London and became a hero amongst the Hammers, owing to his brilliant performances in the heart of the midfield.
At his peak, he bagged 9 goals and 12 assists in one season in the Premier League, and he was easily the Hammers’ most important player.
However, soon after, it all went downhill. Eventually, he left for Marseille in less than ideal circumstances, and he’s since gone down as a bit of a villain at the London Stadium.
Whilst most fans would recognise his talent and his importance to the team at that point, much of that is now ignored. Instead, he’s now vilified by the West Ham faithful, and that’s highlighted by the attitude of the fans regarding him online.

West Ham recently shared a clip of Payet in action in a West Ham shirt from a 2016 game between the club and Blackburn over on Twitter. Supporters have since fired back with lots of frustration. They don’t want to see Payet on anything related to West Ham.
See what they’ve said below:
Hold up, he left us in the worst way didn’t he? Take this down, he’s on a level with Ince
