West Ham fans on Twitter absolutely love the attitude of Issa Diop

Over the last few months, it’s become more and more clear that in Issa Diop, The Hammers have a truly great player and he’s more than deserving of being the club’s second-ever most expensive transfer. So far his form has been incredible at The London Stadium and his recent comments have only led the fans to believe he’ll get better, as he claims he’s not happy with his current displays.
Diop on his performances this season:
“I’ve not played well. I need to improve and I hope I improve quickly,” he said modestly. Maybe people have said I have been impressive, but we [have] conceded too many goals. For me I know I can do more and I can play better.” pic.twitter.com/hbzjNASOPq

Whilst knowing that you can do better is one thing, claiming that you haven’t been playing well when the fans are lauding you as one of the best defenders, when it comes to current form, in the Premier League is a whole new level. These comments have led the supporters to believe that they’re about to see a whole new side of their 21-year-old defender and with Manchester City coming up on the weekend, they’ll need him to be at the top of his game.
The young defender signed from Toulouse over the summer as an unknown young defender, however, the fans couldn’t be more pleased with him and they’ve been hailing Manuel Pellegrini for spotting the youngster and taking the punt on him, even if he did set them back by a few quid. The next step for Diop in Stratford will be to try and achieve those levels that he claims he can reach, and if he does manage to hit new heights then the West Ham fans will only cherish his time at the club even more.

That hunger to improve is fantastic and hopefully infectious.

The Hammers are delighted with Diop so far and if he can hit that next level ahead of the City game and keep Pep Guardiola’s side out then his stock will only rise.
