West Ham fans have got plenty to look forward to over the next new years. The Hammers’ academy system is starting to thrive and with the likes of Declan Rice and Grady Diangana at different stages of their step up to senior football, the fans are looking to who could be next, and young Conor Coventry could be next given his chance in midfield.

The Irons have got a lot to look forward over the next few years, especially if they can hang onto Manuel Pellegrini, and some of the youngsters in the youth sides could be key to the club’s future. One of those is undoubtedly Conor Coventry. The club’s U23 captain has stepped up for the club’s age group side and started to shine, and at the age of just 19, four years younger than some of those he’s up against, he certainly has a big future.
The young Irish midfielder still has a long way to go but he’s already made his senior debut as he played 45 minutes of the Hammers’ 8-0 win over Macclesfield in the EFL Cup way back in September. He’s also managed to make the bench in the Premier League on a handful of occasions, even if he is still chasing his debut in the competition. That will come in time, though, and for now, the Irons are waiting patiently for his chance.

He’s going to be a star player for us … been saying it for ages

How long before Southgate comes calling

He played really well. My MOTM though was Jeremy Ngakia – was solid in defence

The Hammers love the idea of Conor Coventry starring alongside Rice and Noble in the senior side at some point and will hope he steps up at some point next season.
