West Ham fans on Twitter celebrate Fabianski has he picks up Polish POTY award

A lot of West Ham fans are still marvelling at some of the business that Manuel Pellegrini pulled off over the summer. The Chilean may have had a couple of misses in the form of Ryan Fredericks and Lucas Perez, but there’s no disputing that signing Lukas Fabianski was an absolute masterstroke from the ex-Manchester City boss.

It’s that man who the fans have been lauding recently too, as Fabianski has swooped his country’s player of the year award for his performances with Poland. Fabianski is the first player to win the award other than Robert Lewandowski for seven years since Jakub Blaszczykowski picked up the award in 2010. It’s truly an impressive award to be taking home, and the Hammers are all delighted.

Not only has Fabianski won this award, but he’s also being touted as one of the favourites to win West Ham’s Hammer of the Year award. The Polish shot-stopper would be a worthy winner given his heroics in the net for the Irons this season, even if there are a number of other players who will no doubt push him close like Felipe Anderson and Declan Rice.
