West Ham fans on Twitter left unimpressed with Diop following Watford defeat

West Ham’s run of consecutive wins in the Premier League came to an end over the weekend after they saw defeat at the hands of Watford in a 2-0 loss at the London Stadium.

Goals from captain Troy Deeney, who enraged West Ham supporters with his celebration after his 30th-minute penalty, and Gerard Deulofeu helped Javi Gracia’s men secure all three points on the day in a match where their opponents had dropped off significantly compared to previous weeks.

The Hammers will now be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on Southampton on Thursday with central defender Issa Diop keen to put the club’s recent defeat behind.

“We are very disappointed because, by winning this game we could have been in the top six,” the Frenchman told West Ham’s official club website. “But we lost and we now need to move past it, and be focused for Southampton.”

Looking at the bigger picture, Diop and West Ham can still be pleased with how they have performed heading into this period of the season having won four of their last five fixtures leaving them just five points off sixth-placed Manchester United.
