West Ham United have been enjoying their time in the transfer window recently with the club making a number of signing to significantly improve their squad.
Manuel Pellegrini is desperate to add quality to the team he took over this summer and has certainly added a vast amount of quality to the London Stadium outfit.
Having made no less than seven signings already, he has added the likes of Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko, Jack Wilshere and Issa Diop to try and help the Hammers achieve their aims of qualifying for European football.
However, it appears that Pellegrini is not content with the business he has already done, with reports suggesting that he is after another defender.
According to claims made by the Daily Mail, the Irons are interested in bringing Olympique de Lyonnais’ Marcelo to the London Stadium, however, they have already had an opening offer of £18million rejected.
It is thought the Ligue One side will cash in on the player they only signed last summer, however, West Ham are thought to have to offer in the region of £20m to have it considered.
West Ham still want to bring another centre-back to the London Stadium this summer, despite the additions of Diop and Fabian Balbuena, following Winston Reid’s latest injury setback.
The 31-year-old Brazilian impressed during his debut year for Lyon and has consistently proved that he can play in some of Europe’s top leagues since he arrived from Santos in 2008.
He would certainly be able to add cover to the backline if required, although it remains to be seen what Pellegrini’s plans are for his defence and who he sees featuring for it from the start.
