West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be pleased with the work that Manuel Pellegrini has already put into rebuilding the team this summer.
The Chilean has been incredibly active in the transfer market trying to make his squad as strong as possible as he tries to take them into a European football position next season.
The former Premier League winner has made a number of additions to help put his team into a stronger position, following their disappointing campaign last season, however, it appears he is not quite happy just yet.
According to a report by Sky Sports, the Hammers made an offer for Newcastle United’s Jamaal Lascelles that was rejected. It is believed the club offered an initial fee of £20million, that would rise to £25M, however, the Magpies have informed the Irons that their captain is not for sale.
The Hammers have been already secured Issa Diop and Ryan Fredericks to bolster their defence, however, the addition of Lascelles would be one that would have been welcomed at the London Stadium.
The Newcastle captain was solid throughout the campaign for the Magpies and proved crucial to their efforts of remaining in the Premier League. The defender was considered by many unfortunate to have missed out on the England squad for the World Cup with his performances.
A deal will look unlikely at this stage for the 24-year-old, especially as the Toon Army will want to keep hold of their best players.
