West Ham hoping to seal deal for £25m-rated midfielder

The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern think that it is time to do a deal…

The Dimitri Payet-saga has been rolling on over the last few days, with the story quickly becoming the will-he-wont-he story of the month.

In short, Payet wants out, but West Ham have not been keen to sell their best player for a cut-price fee – leaving the situation in somewhat of a stalemate for both parties.

However, it would appear as though a deal between Payet and West Ham is edging closer, with the Sun reporting that West Ham are now keen to cut all ties with the midfielder.

According to the Sun, West Ham have grown tired of the saga – and are now keen to sell Payet for £5 million less than they first demanded; with the side hoping that Marseille will meet them with a fee of £25 million.

It is a quick turnaround from the Hammers, with reports over the last few days suggesting that they will not part with the Frenchman for less than £30 million, with failed talks not helping the situation.

The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are certainly on the same page as the Hammers’ brass, with many feeling that Payet’s attitude could disrupt their side as they bid to return to the top-half of the Premier League table.

Payet has not been nearly as effective this season as he was last year, which may be explained by his apparent fondness on a departure from the London Stadium. He has bagged just 2 Premier League goals this year, in contrast to the 9 that he scored in the last campaign – and our landlord thinks that West Ham’s downfall this season can certainly be, in part, attributed to Payet’s performances.

His performances last season are not going to be quickly forgotten, though…
