West Ham identify potential target to resolve goalkeeping crisis – report

West Ham United have begun their search for a new goalkeeper this summer and fans in the Transfer Tavern will be hoping they bring in a reliable stopper.

According to the Daily Mail, the Hammers have identified Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli as a potential replacement for Joe Hart and Adrian. The Manchester City loanee is expected to head back to the Etihad Stadium, whilst the Spaniard wants to leave if David Moyes remains at the helm.

The Cottagers have been impressing in the Championship and are in contention for promotion to the Premier League, with the 25-year-old goalkeeper being a pivotal component of their success. Should the Craven Cottage outfit be promoted, it could be difficult for them to get a deal done with their London rivals.

The goalkeeper has been watched by England scouts who are considering him as a potential England number one in the future, so a move to a top-flight would aid his cause if Fulham fail to achieve promotion.

Landlord’s Verdict

The West Ham fans in the Tavern will be excited by the possibility of Bettinelli joining them in the summer, however, many of the locals will feel that a deal could be impossible to complete should Fulham be promoted.

A number of punters will also be concerned by both the fact that the young goalkeeper is relatively inexperienced and the size of the transfer fee Fulham are likely to demand.
