West Ham United appear to have been knocked back immediately in their pursuit for one of their targets this January.
However, it has been claimed that Carlo Ancelotti vetoed any possibility of a sale happening.
The 21-year-old has struggled to get regular minutes for the Serie A outfit, however, it is thought the midfielder is held in high regard by the Napoli boss.
Diawara has made just ten appearances for the club this season, with just six of those as a starter.
West Ham’s attempts to land Diawara appear to have been knocked back immediately, handing them a blow in their pursuit for the player.
The fact that the midfielder had featured so little for Napoli this season would have given the Premier League outfit some hope of completing a deal, however, Ancelotti’s decision to immediately veto a potential sale surely puts a possible switch to bed.
Manuel Pellegrini will likely need to look elsewhere if he wants to reinforce his midfield ranks further this January.
