West Ham United will be desperate to climb into a European spot at some point this season, after spending a large of money during the summer transfer window.
The Hammers have come on leaps and bounds under Manuel Pellegrini but there’re still a lot of improvements to be had, with another big transfer window possibly in-store.
Worryingly, it appears as if one of the club’s first team stars is leaning towards the exits, as according to Goal, Angelo Ogbonna is wanted by Valencia in January.
Indeed, the Italian has taken in over 100 appearances for the Premier League club and remains tied to a contract through to 2022.
But, Valencia hope that he can be freed from that agreement and have opened initial talks.
The central defender has enjoyed a regular starting place in the side this season, so the Hammers surely won’t want to see him depart in January, unless they have a direct replacement lined up already.
Ogbonna would play a big part in the second half of the season for the Hammers.
West Ham United have been defensively vulnerable at times this season but they seem to have pulled together in recent times to really keep things tight at the back. So, having come so far over the course of the current campaign, it would come as a big blow if they were to lose the Italian in January.
