West Ham interested in Dario Benedetto

Imagine if West Ham United were finally able to secure a striker that would be able to find the back of the net on a regular basis. Just imagine where the club could be in the Premier League and what they might be able to achieve.

It is no secret that the Hammers have had problems in the attacking department and Manuel Pellegrini will need to look for new additions in the summer.

And, it appears he could have a really interesting option on his radar this summer.

What’s the News?

According to a report by TEAMtalk, West Ham are interested in signing Dario Benedetto this summer.

They claim the club have been approached about signing the Boca Juniors star as the Argentina international would like a move to England and could have to pay around £20million to land him.

The Verdict:

Benedetto could be West Ham’s answer to finally ending their woes when it comes to finding a player who can spearhead the attack at the London Stadium and find the back of the net on a regular basis.

The Argentina international has a knack for finding the back of the target, having scored over 30 goals in his last two seasons for Boca, although this year has been a rather sluggish one for the forward.

The 28-year-old is a gifted centre-forward that has plenty of technical ability and presence when in the box, whilst he has an excellent long-range shot on him as well. Benedetto also has the skill to drive at his opponents with the ball as his dribbling is brilliant, whilst he can also hold up the play with his ball control, which would benefit Pellegrini’s side.

West Ham would appear to be in a good position to bring the South American to England if the claims are true, whilst there has been some Argentine influence at the Hammers in the past that could help land him.

Carlos Tevez is a current team-mate of Benedetto’s at Boca, whilst Manuel Lanzini is also starring for the Irons and both men could play a role in helping convince him about life in the capital.

A figure of around £20m for a player of his ability would have to be considered a steal in today’s transfer market, so West Ham might just find the possibility of bringing him to the London Stadium something worth taking seriously.
