West Ham interested in Elvis Azah

West Ham United are one of a number of clubs thought to be interested in one of the hottest prospects to have come out of Ireland.

According to a report in The Daily Mail, the Hammers are keeping tabs on Elvis Azah, who has impressed in pre-season with Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds are thought to want to keep hold of the 17-year-old, who has represented the Republic of Ireland at youth level, however, they will face competition from a number of top-flight sides.

West Ham are thought to be one of those, along with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, after having seen him net twice against them in an Under-18 friendly.

Azah is a player who is comfortable playing on either of the wings or even going further forward and has spent time at Celtic, as well as having a trial with Manchester United and Everton.

The Verdict:

Azah is a clearly talented prospect and West Ham will have to beat off plenty of competition if they were to land him.

The teenager has plenty of pace, acceleration, excellent ball control and also has the ability to beat players, which are all attributes that will help him to go far in the game.

He would certainly head into the development side of whoever he decides to join, but he would definitely be a talented addition.
