West Ham United put in an impressive performance against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, which will only make fans question why their side cannot do it on a more consistent basis.
Manuel Pellegrini could be in the market to make some additions in the summer to try and provide them with the consistency required in the Premier League next season, although whether he is the right type of player to bring to the London Stadium is questionable.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Tuttosport, Juan Cuadrado is thought to be on West Ham’s radar this summer.
The Colombia international is believed to be a player Juventus are prepared to sell for between €15million and €20million (£12.9m and £17.2m) and the Hammers, along with Watford, have been linked with a move for him.
However, they could face some trouble in trying to sign him as returning to the Premier League is not thought to be a priority for the South American after his torrid spell at Chelsea.
As mentioned, whether Cuadrado is the type of player West Ham truly need in the upcoming transfer window is extremely questionable.
There is no doubt that the Colombian has shown the quality he has to offer, however, the Hammers already have a number options available to them on the flanks that have already made significant contributions.
Felipe Anderson and Manuel Lanzini are both their main go-to men at the moment, however, Andriy Yarmolenko also showed glimpses of what he could provide them with during the early stages of the season before his debut campaign was ended by injury.
Cuadrado could, however, give them some excellent squad depth and could provide the club with some inspiration at times when they are struggling and may prove to be a useful addition, especially if he is available for between £13m-£17m.
But, as the report eluded to, it does not appear that he is keen on a return to the Premier League after his previous spell in London and Pellegrini could have some work on his hands to try and convince him it will be different.
