West Ham United are expected to have to head into the January transfer market and look for reinforcements to their squad.
The Hammers spent a lot of money in the summer landing a number of targets, however, Manuel Pellegrini’s side have been unfortunate in the number of injuries they have suffered.
Andriy Yarmolenko was just the latest in a line of players to have been struck down with a long-term injury, which could force the Chilean into looking for a new winger to arrive at the London Stadium.
And, according to reports in Italy, one former Premier League player has been linked with a move back to the capital, although he did not fare too well the last time he was in England.
However, it is understood that the Serie A outfit have no desire to sell the Ivorian at all, having only just purchased him themselves in August from Hebei China Fortune and a deal has been described as having “no chance”.
On the cusp of it, this deal does appear to be a really strange one for West Ham to try and make, as many will remember his time at Arsenal, which is widely regarded as a flop.
However, Pellegrini did work with Gervinho in China and may have felt that the reunion between the two could help him finally find his touch in the Premier League.
That said, it does not appear as that will happen, with Parma adamant that he is not for sale, so the Hammers may have to start looking elsewhere for options.
