West Ham looking to avoid heavy spending in January

West Ham United have had an abysmal start to the Premier League this season and it appears that Manuel Pellegrini will need to fix things with the squad he currently has.

According to a report by the London Evening Standard, the Chilean will not be expecting to have the opportunity to splash the cash as he did this summer and will need to make what he already has work.

It is understood that the current plan is to avoid spending big on a number of players once again this January, having already made a number of hefty purchases.

The London Stadium outfit spent almost £100million on new players to help improve the side, however, a number of them are yet to have impressed as the Hammers currently sit rock bottom of the Premier League without a point to their name.

It is believed that West Ham will give him Pellegrini the time to make the necessary improvements but only time will tell if he can turn the ship around at the club.

The Verdict:

It was always unlikely that Pellegrini would have been able to spend big twice in a football year.

West Ham have usually been very shrewd when it comes to splashing out and it was a surprise to many when they paid big money for the Chilean, as well as on all the transfers that he had made this summer.

However, it would appear that the manager will have time to make the group of players he has work and turn things around, although there is a lot of football to be played between now and the January transfer window.
