West Ham make firm offer for Andre Gomes

West Ham United have been enjoying themselves this summer as they have made a number of talented acquisitions during the transfer window.

Manuel Pellegrini has turned his side into a team that should be a competitive force in the Premier League in the upcoming season, as he tries to guide them to a place in European football.

The likes of Felipe Anderson and Jack Wilshere are just a couple of the new faces to arrive at the London Stadium so far, however, it appears that the Hammers could be on the verge of completing an eighth deal this summer.

According to Spanish media outlet Esport 3, West Ham have made a firm offer for Barcelona’s Andre Gomes, with the Catalan outfit prepared to offload him.

The report also claims that the Hammers are already in negotiations with the La Liga champions for the playmaker as Ernesto Valverde looks to reduce his wage bill.

The Portugal international has struggled to get to grips with the Nou Camp side since he moved from Valencia in 2016, however, Pellegrini continues to remain an admirer of the 25-year-old.

The Verdict:

Gomes has been on West Ham’s radar for a while now and he could be close to sealing a switch to the London Stadium.

The player will want to get his career restarted and a move to the Premier League could give him the opportunity to do so.

Should the Portuguese midfielder join up with the Hammers, he will be unable to play for them straight away as he suffered a slight injury during Barcelona’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur ruling him out for a month.
