West Ham manager leaps to defence of fighting forward

Andy CarrollIf Slaven Bilic hadn’t already won over the West Ham regulars in the Transfer Tavern, he will soon enough after leaping to defend the latest actions of Hammer’s striker Andy Carroll.

Carroll made the news for both the right and the wrong reasons at the weekend, scoring against the Premier League champions to give his side a 2-1 victory over the London side, but the real news was his involvement in a restaurant row with a Chelsea fan later on that evening.

However, according to reports from the Daily Star Bilic has had his say on Carroll’s latest spot of bother, claiming ‘he has come of age’. The¬†Hammers boss said:

“We had a few chats and he has matured. He is now, when you talk to him, like a proper man. I have no worries. I don’t live with him. I am not a policeman and I am not investigating their lives.”

“It’s very hard to go out because of the media and everything. I can understand they go out but it is all about timing of course, when and where.”

Hammer’s ¬£15m record signing is yet to make a Premier League start since January but following his return from injury, the big target-man will be looking to feature in West Ham’s clash against Watford at the weekend.
