West Ham may face competition for Gary Cahill

West Ham United could look to enter the January transfer market with the aims of strengthening their squad once again.

The Hammers spent big in the summer trying to improve their team and they finally look to have started to gel together.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side started off with some poor performances, however, the Irons have managed to turn things around and put in a number of impressive displays.

However, according to a media outlet in Turkey, they are interested in making a move for Chelsea’s Gary Cahill but will face some stiff competition for his signature.

Aksam are claiming that Galatasaray are also interested in the veteran defender, as it has been suggested that he could leave Stamford Bridge if his first-team opportunities do not improve.

And, the Turkish outfit could pose to be a significant threat to the Hammers’ chances, as the Istanbul outfit could potentially offer him Champions League football, should they progress from their group.

The Verdict:

With both David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger seemingly starring in Maurizio Sarri’s system, it looks as though Cahill could be on the move, whether that be in the winter or next summer.

West Ham could prove to be an attractive option for the former England international as it would give him Premier League football again, although he would have the likes of Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena to compete with.

However, if he still wants to be playing in the top competitions, the 32-year-old may decide that a move abroad is a better option for him, therefore, the Hammers could then miss out.
