Over the summer, West Ham made some very good signings with most of them now flourishing at the London Stadium.
And one of those signings includes Issa Diop, whose performances this season have reportedly caught the attention of Manchester United.
Diop recently joined West Ham from Toulouse and has impressed ever since with ex-Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho describing the central defender as a “monster” (BBC Sport) after his display in the Hammers’ 3-1 win over the Red Devils at the end of September.
And while Mourinho may not be in the Old Trafford dugout anymore, according to the Daily Mail, Diop could still be a target for his former club once the transfer window opens.
West Ham, though, would be wise to rebuff any approach for the Frenchman. Alongside fellow summer addition Fabian Balbuena, £22.5m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Diop has helped to form a very strong central defensive partnership.
From the back, he has brought aerial dominance to the side along with an extra bit of technical quality thanks to his ability on the ball.
With that in mind, it is not hard to see why Manchester United would be interested in Diop, especially when considering some of the lacklustre options currently among their ranks.
The France U21 international, however, would likely command an astronomical fee — and rightly so. He is becoming too much of an important player for West Ham to let him go so easily.
