West Ham name their price for dynamic midfielder

The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern still can’t believe what has unfolded over the last 24 hours…

Just when the Hammers thought that their season couldn’t get any worse, it most certainly has. West Ham are, unfortunately, still in a relegation battle this season – and escaping such peril is going to be far more difficult now that Slaven Bilic will not have Dimitri Payet to call upon.

In reality, nobody is expecting West Ham to go down, but the risk is certainly still there – and the risk is significantly higher given that Hammers boss Slaven Bilic yesterday revealed that Payet was refusing to play for the club.

The Frenchman is reportedly seeking a move, and whilst Bilic revealed that he wouldn’t be sold – English publication the Times have today revealed that West Ham have named their price for the midfielder.

A figure of between £35m and £40m will reportedly be demanded by the Hammers, with Payet undoubtedly one of the most coveted midfielders in Europe.

It is an unfortunate end to a West Ham career that has been filled with far more highs than it has lows. Payet was, arguably, one of the Premier League’s best players last season – and he was the man that was expected to help his side get out of their current situation as they sit near the bottom of the Premier League table.

The West Ham fans in the Tavern, whilst furious at Payet, think that he should, at this point, just be sold – with his negative attitude only likely to bring the Hammers’ morale down even lower
