It’s nearly closing time in the Football Transfer Tavern but before we shut up shop for the Christmas period, reports that West Ham United want to bring Charlton full back Chris Solly to the club in January have emerged.
talkSPORT suggest that the Hammers are set to reignite their interest in the Addicks defender who has been earning plaudits for his fine performances at the Valley.
The 21-year-old was outstanding for Charlton last season as they romped to the League One title and he won the club’s Player of the Year award before being linked with a move to Upton Park.
No transfer materialised but it appears that Sam Allardyce wants to go back in for the defender when the transfer window opens as he seeks to strengthen his injury hit side. The Hammers boss only currently has Guy Demel to play at rightback with Joey O’Brien being forced to play out of position at left back and Solly could solve his problems in one swoop.
There’s no doubt that Charlton would love to hang on the talented youngster but a move to the Premier League will be a mouth-watering prospect for the full back.
