West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be hoping their side have done enough to remain in the Premier League following a positive run of results.
David Moyes is thought to be preparing for the summer as he looks to build the team and ensure there is no repeat of this year’s campaign, and he has identified a striker who could add goals to the squad.
Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato are claiming that the Hammers are interested in signing Mariano Diaz from Olympique de Lyonnais – a player who has been in fine goal-scoring form in Ligue One this season. The former Real Madrid forward has netted 18 goals so far this year, helping his side to climb up to third in the division.
He is reportedly under contract until June 2022 and is thought to have a valuation of around 30 million euros, which could concern a number of the locals as they have not seen their club spend a huge amount of money on players in recent windows.
Moyes will also need to compete against his former club for the signature of Diaz, with Everton also rumoured to be interested in the 24-year-old as they look to add firepower to their side as well.
The West Ham fans in the Tavern will be pleased to be linked with a player of Diaz’s quality, but plenty of the locals are concerned that the board will be unable to offer Moyes the financial backing that is required to lure Diaz away from Olympique de Lyonnais.
