The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are beginning to get desperate…
West Ham’s need for a bit of striking depth is clear for all to see, with the Hammers’ struggling in front of goal so far this season.
A wonder goal from Andy Carrol appeared to settle their nerves somewhat, but long-term, it is clear that the injury-prone Englishman is not reliable enough – and so a new forward was, for many, considered an essential signing.
One player that the Hammers seemingly won’t be chasing imminently, though, is Brentford forward Scott Hogan – with the Daily Telegraph reporter Jason Burt stating on Twitter that West Ham have ‘cooled’ their interest in the 14-goal striker.
Interestingly, he notes that they have put the breaks on the deal ‘for now’, so it does seem likely that the London-based side could go back in for Hogan.

This is a worrying sign for the West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern, given that many of them have been coming into the pub all week hoping to see confirmation of the deal to bring Hogan to the London Stadium.
The news contradicts reports from over the last few days that seemed to suggest that a deal was close, with the Daily Mail noting that West Ham had made a breakthrough in their bid to sign the forward.
Our landlord thinks that anything could happen between now and the end of the month – and he is sure that the Hammers will look towards a striker over the next few days.
