West Ham reportedly readying move for European goal machine

West Ham fans have been in good spirits in the Transfer Tavern during the international break after their side’s key victory over Swansea City last week.

Slaven Bilic’s men were languishing in the Premier League’s bottom three ahead of their clash with Paul Clement’s side, but a late Diafra Sakho winner secured the Hammers a much-needed 1-0 victory to lift them out of the relegation zone and up to 15th.

That certainly lifted the gloom among several of our resident West Ham supporters, and they are likely to be further encouraged by recent reports in Belgium (via The Sun), which suggest that the East London outfit are seeking to beat Liverpool to the signature of Anderlecht forward Lukasz Teodorczyk.

The 26-year-old secured a permanent move to the Belgian giants back in March after impressing on a loan spell there earlier in the campaign, a campaign in which the Poland international helped them to the domestic league title, as well as the quarter final of the Europa League.

The striker scored 30 goals in 53 games in all competitions for the club last term, and it was goal-scoring form which reportedly attracted the interest of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool during the summer, only for no move to materialise.

Yet a move to the Premier League could well take place in January, as recent reports suggest that Bilic’s West Ham have been keeping tabs on his progress this season ahead of a possible move in the New Year.

The Hammers have struggled for goals so far this term and so could see Teodorczyk as the ideal January signing, but whether they can tempt Anderlecht into selling him, and indeed the European goal machine himself into coming to England, very much remains to be seen.

Landlord’s verdict: It has been a pretty slow start to the season for Slaven Bilic’s West Ham, who sit 15th in the Premier League having won just two of their opening seven matches.

Part of the problem has been their distinct lack of goals, with just seven goals scored in those seven games, and it appears that they are seeking to address that issue with a move for Anderlecht’s Lukasz Teodorczyk in January.

The 26-year-old bagged 30 goals for the Belgian side last term and as such attracted interest from Liverpool during the summer, yet his permanent move to the club in March made a summer deal particularly tricky.

However, Teodorczyk, and indeed Anderlecht, haven’t made a great start to the new season, and thus could try their luck with a move in January.
