West Ham reportedly seeking agreement in move that could please supporters this summer

West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be expecting their team to perform better than they had against Arsenal in the final four games of the season to secure their Premier League status.

The Hammers had put a positive run of results together before they met with the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium and will be looking to bounce back, despite their next game being against newly-crowned champions Manchester City.

The Irons are focused on ensuring that they do enough to stay in the top-flight and have put a hold on offering players new contracts until after the campaign, however, the London Evening Standard are claiming Declan Rice will be one of those to receive a new deal.

The defender had been publicly criticised by David Moyes for his mistake against Arsenal, however, the 19-year-old is highly-rated at the London Stadium and want to keep him for as long as possible to oversee his development. The former Chelsea prospect has a contract tying him until 2020, but it is believed West Ham want to extend that further.

Landlord’s Verdict

The locals in the Tavern will be pleased that the club wants to extend Rice’s future at the London Stadium and will be hoping they can get a deal completed. Many of the punters will also be delighted that they are more focused and concerned on retaining their Premier League survival.
