The West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a new central midfielder for Christmas.
They are currently light in that department with Mark Noble out injured.
Pedro Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyate are filling that role but there is a lack of strength in depth in the central midfield region after they missed out on signing William Carvalho in the summer.
And while they could reignite their interest in Carvalho, they have been trying to sign another midfielder.
According to an exclusive report by The Sunday Express, the Irons have seen an £8m bid for Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter rejected.
Arter is reportedly interested in the switch to East London as the two struggling Premier League sides scrap it out for the Republic of Ireland international’s services.
David Moyes is said to be a big fan of Arter’s work ethic in the middle of the park and wants to add him to the West Ham squad for the run-in.
Arter has only started ten Premier League matches for Bournemouth this season with England youth international Lewis Cook being handed more first team opportunities under Eddie Howe.
But the Cherries still want to keep the 27-year-old and have rebuffed the Hammers’ opening bid.
Bournemouth are likely to resist any bids under £10m for Arter and could demand up to £15m from West Ham.
At that price, West Ham are better advised to double their money and bring in someone of William Carvalho’s standard to really bolster the midfield.
While Arter has proven that he is a reliable Premier League performer, he is far from a £15m player.
