The celebrations have already started in the Football Transfer Tavern…
If you ask any of the West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern which player they would like to see remain the club over the next few years, the same name is always mentioned: Reece Oxford.
The young English midfielder has been touted as the next big graduate from the impressive West Ham academy, and whilst he has seen less game time as of late – hopes are still high that he will be able to make the jump into the Hammers’ first team.
There has been some serious concern amongst the Hammers in the Tavern, given the clear talents that Oxford possesses, that he could leave the club – with Man Utd and Man City reportedly keen.
However, according to the Sun, West Ham fans can calm their fears – with Oxford having put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with the Hammers.
He has reportedly signed a 5-year-deal with the club, with an announcement set to be made on his 18th birthday.
This news has delighted the West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern – with many touting the young Englishman as a future Hammers captain.
Oxford has yet to feature in the Premier League for West Ham this season, but he has made 2 appearances in the Europa League. He will be expected to make a few more as the season progresses, after making 7 in the league last season.
Our landlord thinks that at just 17-years-old, Oxford has years to develop into the player that we all know he can be – and so he is not concerned at his lack of game time.
