There is one thing that we hear from West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern again and again.
“We need a right back in this transfer window”.
The West Ham fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been saying this for the past few seasons now but they have not addressed this problem yet.
In January 2016, they landed Sam Byram from Leeds United and he looks like he could be the long-term answer to the problem but his time at West Ham has been injury-hit thus far, slowing his progress.
When Byram is out injured, West Ham have no other alternative.
But this could be about to change.
According to The Mirror and many other news outlets, Pablo Zabaleta is set to sign for West Ham United.
The Manchester City official Twitter account announced that the 32-year-old will be leaving the club after nine successful seasons at the Etihad – during which he has won two Premier League titles, two League Cups and an FA Cup trophy.
The experienced Argentinian defender is expected to pen a two year deal with the Hammers on a free transfer this summer.
Zabaleta will provide a short-term solution to the right back problem while acting as a mentor for young Sam Byram.
