West Ham head into the 2017/18 campaign ready to give a better account of themselves than they did last term under manager Slaven Bilic.
The Hammers put in some woeful performances at their new London Stadium, and they will be hoping to get over that hoodoo this year.
The West Ham fans have been flooding into the Tavern this summer, and our landlord has been spending some time with them and what their thoughts and feelings are for the club heading into the summer.
With new signings likely to be needed despite the addition of Javier Hernandez this week, our landlord has suggested one established Premier League player who could have a big impact at the club, and that man is Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.
The England international had a wayward season under Jurgen Klopp last term, drifting in and out of the team, but in the main, spending his time injured or on the bench.
However, a move to an established club in the capital like the Hammers could be the making of him once more, where he would no doubt become a regular and be one of the main focuses of attention.
West Ham are going to need more goals, and despite having Hernandez now among the ranks, signing someone of Sturridge’s quality could be a major coup for Slaven Bilic.
It’s a transfer which could make a lot of sense for all parties involved, and one which could certainly have a big say on where West Ham end up finishing their 2017/18 campaign.
