West Ham should look to seal a big money January move for this former Real Madrid star

West Ham have begun to improve under David Moyes and look in far better shape than the previous months under Slaven Bilic, with the Hammers beginning to put goals and points on the board.

The former Man United and Everton manager has his ways of working, and some of them have been clearly working at the London Stadium, with the likes of Marko Arnautovic now playing to something like his best, and Manuel Lanzini heading back into form despite his ban for diving.

Here in the Tavern though, our landlord and the Hammers fans think that the squad still needs some more quality running through it, especially down the spine of the team, and one player they think could do a superb job for the club is former Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illaremendi.

The 27-year-old has got his career back on track with his hometown club of Real Sociedad, and Moyes will know the talent available at the Spanish club all too well following his spell in La Liga a few seasons back.

Illaremendi is a classy operator in the middle of the park, and despite not living up to the billing, he was once dubbed the new Xabi Alonso in Spain, so there is definitely a world class talent in their somewhere.

The chance to move to the Premier League and chance his arm in London though could be something Illaramendi cannot resist, and if the Hammers could stump up the cash to secure the deal, then signing the Spaniard would most definitely give them that added bit of class in the middle of the park.

Hammers fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know!
