West Ham take Sergey Kornilenko on trial

West Ham are looking to bolster their depleted front line by taking Belarus striker Sergey Kornilenko on trial with a view to take him on loan.

Sportsmail claim that the 26 year old will fly into London on Friday and will be watched for a week before a decision is made and having failed in attempts to bring both Adriano and Luca Toni to Upton Park, the Irons will be hoping Kornilenko impresses with Carlton Cole still absent.

Kornilenko joined Zenit St. Petersburg 6 months ago for £1.2m from Tom Tomsk but has been told he is surplus to requirements by new manager Luciano Spalletti despite having an impressive goals to games ratio across eastern Europe.

His old club, Tomsk, are hoping he will stay in Russia and rejoin them but having only scored once in 12 appearances for Zenit, its is thought that he is determined to prove that he can operate at the highest level and is looking to impress on his week long trial in East London.
