West Ham target Danny Drinkwater made available for loan

West Ham United could add another central midfielder to their ranks this summer as they look to continue with their recruitment drive.

The Hammers have been extremely active in the transfer window and have seen a host of names join them at the London Stadium.

However, Manuel Pellegrini could be about to bring a Premier League winner to the club this summer after the club were given a boost in their chase for the player.

According to The Daily Mirror’s live transfer blog at 10:36am 08/08/18, Chelsea are prepared to let Danny Drinkwater leave on loan and West Ham are thought to be one of the clubs interested in him.

The Hammers could face plenty of competition for the England international, with Everton also thought to be holding an interest in him.

The 28-year-old has struggled during his time at Stamford Bridge since signing for £34 million last summer and the Irons will be hoping they can bring him across London this summer.

The Verdict:

Drinkwater would be a solid addition to West Ham this summer as the player would offer them another midfield option.

The England international would be looking to restart his career away from Chelsea and a club like the Hammers could offer him the perfect opportunity to do so.

However, a starting position in Pellegrini’s side would not be a guarantee for the Premier League winner, with West Ham newbie Jack Wilshere also looking to cement a starting berth in the first XI.
