West Ham target Victor Wanyama for January move

West Ham United could look to head into the January transfer market this winter to bolster certain areas of their squad once again.

The Hammers spent big in the summer trying to improve Manuel Pellegrini’s options, however, a number of injuries has seen the possibility of heading back into the market for new additions.

And, according to a report, the Irons could look to bring an experienced player across London to help with their efforts.

Football Insider are claiming that West Ham are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Victor Wanyama in January.

The Kenya international has become a fringe player for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and is thought to be available for a transfer, with the Hammers keen on the possibility of taking him.

The London Stadium outfit see him as the ideal person to bring into the centre of midfield, with the likes of Jack Wilshere, Carlos Sanchez and Andriy Yarmolenko all out injured.

The Verdict:

Wanyama has been an excellent player in the Premier League during his time at Southampton and Tottenham and would be considered an excellent addition for West Ham to make.

The midfielder, who has dropped out of the first-team picture at Spurs, is experienced enough to help lead the team and become a key member of the squad in the absence of others.

The 27-year-old, who is valued at £27million by Transfermarkt, could look to make a move across London to get regular football under his belt again, however, one potential stumbling block will be if whether Tottenham are prepared to sell him to their city rivals.
