Inconsistency has blighted West Ham United this season and Monday’s game against Chelsea is one they seriously cannot allow for that to creep in. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are still in contention of finishing seventh in the Premier League, although, their performances appear to suggest that their campaign is over and there is nothing to play for.
However, there is nothing like a London derby to get things back into shape, and it appears the Hammers will have some encouraging news as they head into the game.
What’s the News?
According to a match preview by Sky Sports, Felipe Anderson, Samir Nasri and Ryan Fredericks should all be in contention to face Chelsea.
Pellegrini confirmed that the trio were all ‘okay’ and had been training with the squad in the lead up to the match with their London rivals.
There is no doubt that the match against Chelsea is going to be a tough affair, however, the news that the trio are available will be great news for Pellegrini and West Ham on Monday night.
The Hammers will need to certainly improve on their previous performance when they were completely outclassed by Everton in the previous matchweek.
Anderson will give them a chance of upsetting the Blues and their pursuit of finishing in the top four as the Brazilian has been outstanding for the Irons throughout the campaign.
The attacker has been in and amongst the goals this season, having found the back of the net on nine occasions and has looked every bit worth the club’s record transfer.
Nasri’s availability could also be key for the Hammers as he can help to provide the creativity needed in the midfield, whilst Fredericks may be preferred to an ageing Pablo Zabaleta.
West Ham fans, how encouraging is it to have Anderson, Nasri and Fredericks available for the Chelsea trip? How do you think your side will get on? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
