West Ham United will host Leicester City at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they look to put an end to their bad run of form. Manuel Pellegrini’s side have managed to win just two of their last seven fixtures and are currently on a three-game losing streak.
The Hammers have been without a number of their players throughout the campaign as they have been terribly unlucky with injuries, however, it appears the Irons will have some potentially encouraging news as they head into the clash with the Foxes.
What’s the News?
According to a match preview by Sky Sports, both Marko Arnautovic and Jack Wilshere could be available for selection.
The Austria international missed the game against Manchester United last weekend through illness, however, he is believed to have overcome it in time for Leicester’s visit.
Wilshere has missed the majority of his debut season with an ankle problem, but Pellegrini has confirmed that he could play a role on Saturday.
Manuel Lanzini and Samir Nasri are both unavailable, whilst Javier Hernandez is considered a doubt as he has been unable to train all week.
Apart from the defeat against Everton, which started their three-match losing run, West Ham have not been playing too badly and were unfortunate not to have picked up anything from the game against Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.
Whilst they will need to improve to get the win, having Arnautovic and Wilshere back in the side should be considered encouraging news for Pellegrini and his team.
The forward, who does seem to blow hot and cold far too often, appeared to be in good form against Chelsea and was missed in their defeat against the Red Devils, however, he could have a huge say against the Foxes and provide the Hammers with the difference.
Wilshere’s potential return will also be encouraging as many will have been disappointed with how his debut season at the London Stadium has gone and will be keen to see at least a glimpse of what he can produce for the Irons in their final few matches of the Premier League campaign, provided he does not get injured again.
Pellegrini has, arguably, missed a player of the England international’s quality in the middle of the park and it will be interesting to see what he can bring to the team after so long out on the sidelines.
