West Ham United will head to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night as they prepare to meet Manchester City in the Premier League.
Manuel Pellegrini will make his first return to a club that he knows well, however, he will want to see a better performance from his current side in the return fixture following a 4-0 defeat at the London Stadium.
And, according to a match preview by the club’s official website, it appears he has some potentially encouraging news ahead of the trip to the current Premier League champions.
Both Manuel Lanzini and Samir Nasri are available to feature for The Hammers following time on the sidelines.
Lanzini made his return as a second-half substitute in the win against Fulham last Friday after spending almost eight months on the treatment table with a serious knee injury.
Nasri, as like Pellegrini, will make his first trip back to the Etihad Stadium after he managed to overcome a calf problem that had been troubling him.
Although Winston Reid and Fabian Balbuena are not fit enough to play, the pair are on the verge of making returns as the pair step up their comebacks from knee injuries.
The game against Manchester City was never going to be easy, especially following their League Cup triumph, however, Pellegrini’s sides fortunes appear to be changing for the better.
The Hammers are starting to get all their players back from injuries now following a really difficult period of time and having Lanzini and Nasri could make a real difference on the pitch.
The news that Balbuena and Reid are also stepping up their recoveries will also be positive for those at the London Stadium, as they continue to pick up points in the Premier League.
