West Ham thought to be interested in Besiktas’ Gary Medel

West Ham United could look to turn their attention to Turkey when it comes down to adding players to their squad this January.

Besiktas are thought to be keen in offloading a number of their players to ease their wage concerns, and it is being claimed that the Hammers have an interest in one man.

According to a report by Milliyet, Manuel Pellegrini is thought to be keen on bringing Gary Medel to the London Stadium.

It is understood that the Premier League outfit are thought to be ready to make an offer for the Chile international, whilst the Istanbul outfit are thought to be open about the move.

Pellegrini is believed to be keen on bringing his compatriot to London as he wants to improve his midfield from a defensive point of view.

The Verdict:

West Ham have already had a number of injury concerns when it comes to the midfield, so it would make sense to bring Medel to the club in the winter.

The Chilean has prior Premier League experience, having played for Cardiff City during their first stint in the top-flight, and has been a standout for Besiktas this season.

With the Turkish club thought to be keen to raise funds, West Ham could look to make a bargain deal for him, which could prove to be inspired if he does join up with them at the London Stadium.
