West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been concerned by the lack of progress regarding a sale in recent weeks but they’re pleased by today’s update.
Payet has been out of the picture for the past two weeks after declaring he wants to leave the club and refused to play for the Hammers again, with former employers Marseille the favourites to land his services.
However, West Ham have so far rejected the offers that Marseille have put forward but are now reported to be lowering their asking price, with the club prepared to accept around £30m for the French international.
It sets-up a busy end to the transfer window for West Ham, as Snodgrass’ arrival could be followed by Scott Hogan’s move from Brentford, whilst Payet is likely to be a big mover.
Our landlord thinks £30m is a fair price for Payet and expects to see a sale concluded before Tuesday’s deadline.
Meanwhile , the Hammers fans here in the Tavern admit they just want the Frenchman out of the club as soon as possible, with them all agreeing they cannot stand the bloke!
