We at the Football Transfer Tavern are surprised at how long the Andy Carroll saga is dragging on for but West Ham United are closing in on their man according to the Daily Star.
The Hammers have made no qualms that they are desperate to bring the Liverpool man to Upton Park on a permanent basis after a successful end to his loan spell last season.
Carroll was worried that joining the Upton Park-based side on a permanent basis could affect his international career but Roy Hodgson named the striker in his squad for last month’s friendlies before injury ruled him out.
The Hammers are still unsure of how bad that injury is but a £15.5 million deal has been agreed with Liverpool for their record signing and personal terms are hoped to be ironed out within seven days.
The Hammers are keen to add more than just Carroll to their front line though and could make numerous bids for big name forwards in the coming weeks.
Will Carroll complete his permanent switch to Sam Allardyce’s side? Rate this rumour below.
