Speaking to Football Insider, talkSPORT regular Darren Bent has buzzed over GSB and West Ham following their confirmed capture of promising defender Frederik Alves – heaping praise on the move whilst also explaining how well the club did to land him before the January window officially opens.
Will Frederik Alves become a future West Ham mainstay?
Alves, who put pen to paper on a four-year contract at the London Stadium until 2024 for an undisclosed fee, will link up with the Hammers on January 2nd after officially signing for West Ham.
The 6 foot 2 starlet had been wowing Irons scouts in Denmark whilst playing for Silkeborg, prompting GSB and co to secure his signature as they see that a promising future potentially lies in wait for the centre-back.
Manager David Moyes claimed that Alves was someone that the club had their eyes on for a while, hinting at the possibility he could become a regular in future given his high ceiling.
Bent buzzes over Alves capture
Reacting to the development, in an interview with Football Insider, Bent explained how West Ham did well to stave off the competition and land his signature early – getting January business done in a timely and efficient manner.
“Januaries are so hard because you always end up having to overpay for the player,” explained the talkSPORT pundit.
“You become desperate, and they [selling club] know you’re desperate, so they add money to the fee. It is notoriously difficult to get deals done in January
“Well played to West Ham. They’ve obviously identified who they want, who they need, and they’ve managed to go out early and get him before anybody else can pinch him.
“We know they [West Ham board] take a lot of stick. The next thing is about getting Moyes’ contract done, but West Ham are in a good place at the moment.”
Transfer Tavern take
Given the nature of the winter window, Bent could be right to praise West Ham for this bit of business, but only time will tell whether Alves becomes a star for the Irons.
