West Ham United don’t believe transfer target is worth £3m

Peter Crouch

Rumours have been circulating around the Football Transfer Tavern regarding the future of Peter Crouch in recent weeks and The Telegraph has all the latest.

The former England man seems to complete a witch every two transfer windows on average and by that logic, his time at Stoke City is up with West Ham United keen to lure him to Upton Park as cover for the injured Andy Carroll.

However, the Hammers only want to pay £1 million for the 33-year-old, and have baulked at the Potters’ asking price of £3 million.

West Ham co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan believe the asking price is far too much and are hoping Mark Hughes’ side will drop his fee before the Premier League season kicks off.

Allardyce is on the hunt for a new forward after club record signing Andy Carroll was ruled out until December with an injury.

West Ham have also explored the possibility of signing Besiktas forward Hugo Almeida, although the 30-year-old as indicated he would rather stay in Turkey.

Former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o is another possibility, however the Hammers have doubts over his age and wage demands.

West Ham fans. Who would you like to see brought in as cover for Andy Carroll? Is Peter Crouch really the best option? Let us know your thoughts below.
