West Ham United fans here in the Tavern are feeling excited ahead of the summer transfer window, as they believe that a number of summer signings could help launch them up the table next season.
David Moyes has struggled to ensure consistency in recent times as his West Ham United side have looked less than convincing. Indeed, the Hammers are edging towards another season in the Premier League, so they now have the luxury of looking ahead to the summer. And, it looks as if Moyes is already looking at potential summer transfer window targets, as according to Sky Sports, West Ham are keen on Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson.
Interestingly, it’s believed that the Hammers have been tracking Ben Gibson over the past few months, as Moyes will be looking to improve on his side’s woeful defensive record this season. And, it’s understood that Scotsman will make a move to sign him in the summer transfer window if his current club Middlesbrough fail to win promotion.
Although, with a valuation of around £20 million, the Hammers may want to look at cheaper options before they make a decision, as spending big hasn’t exactly worked out for them in recent times.
Also, they could face stiff competition from a couple of other Premier League sides, as Leicester City and Everton are also keen.
There’s no doubt that West Ham United need to sign a central defender in the summer transfer window, having witnessed their defensive horrors in the current campaign. But, with Middlesbrough possibly earning promotion to the Premier League via the Champions play-offs, they may struggle to sign him in the summer transfer window.
