West Ham United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have placed down their pints and are crowding around the bar at the latest claim from the Daily Mirror.
The publication think the Hammers could well be set to offer a contract to veteran forward Diego Milito.
As fans of Serie A will know, the Argentine forward is currently at Inter Milan and has won just about everything there.
He could also be set to follow the example of former strike partner Samuel Eto’o and jump ship to the Premier League.
Sadly for Milito, it is Sam Allardyce and not Jose Mourinho who is considering making a swoop however.
West Ham have seen Andy Carroll become injured with a long-term injury, and the likes of Carlton Cole have totally failed to live up to a second chance with the club.
Milito is currently considering his future, with his contract at the San Siro set to expire, and big Sam considering getting the hero of the 2010 Champions League win against Bayern Munich on a cut price deal.
As one of our punters quips, just about anyone would be better than the current disasters the Hammers have up front, and with the cub looking like they are about to get dragged into the relegation battle, a forward who can actually put the ball into the back of the net could be more vital than ever.
Will Big Sam land Milito? Let us know your thoughts below.
