The Daily Mail have Chelsea fans walking over to the bar after placing down their pints while becoming more interested in their latest piece of gossip here in the Football Transfer Tavern, and as our landlord tells us, it is a good one.
The publication claim that Michael Essien is on his way to AC Milan despite claims that a last ditch bid from West Ham United could come in and derail the deal.
Essien has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge almost constantly since his return and the fact that even his ‘daddy’ Jose Mourinho has not played him has convinced the Ghanaian midfielder that he simply has to leave.
Mourinho was asked about the potential transfer of Essien and claimed that he understood the player’s desire to make a move and get some playing time, especially given the World Cup in the summer.
Essien himself arrived in Milan on Friday and spoke to the official AC Milan TC channel, noting: “I’m happy to be here. I will do my best for Milan and I hope to be ready to play.
“I spoke with Mr (Clarence) Seedorf (the Milan head coach) two days ago. I cannot wait to be available.
“I really want to thank the chairman and the team and thanks to Mourinho who has allowed me to wear the Rossoneri shirt.”
